UEL Docklands Campus
The Transformation of the University of East London Docklands Campus
Project Overview:
Client: UEL
Type of Works: Groundworks, Concrete Topping and External Works.
Value: £3.1m
Project Start Date: January 2005
Location: London
O’Keefe carried out both the enabling works, groundworks, insitu RC & external works packages on this phase of UEL development. The enabling works comprised a bulk excavation and a stabilised platform, forming part of the permanent works and pile mat.
The ground work formed a complex matrix of ground beams, wrapped in several layers of insulation and waterproofing, which is ideally suited for use in a stabilised platform. Particular attention had to be paid to environmental issues as we were working dock-side of the Royal Dock and almost under the flight path of planes out of City Airport.
